Saudi Arabia condemns ‘military targeting’ of Iran as violation of its sovereigntyBreaking

October 26, 2024

Saudi Arabia has condemned the “military targeting” of Iran as a “violation of its sovereignty” and international laws. “The Kingdom affirms its unwavering position in its rejection of the continued escalation in the region and the expansion of the conflict that threatens the security and stability of the countries and people of the region,” the statement said. It urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and called on the international community to take action towards de-escalation and ending conflicts in the region. The statement, however, did not mention Israel, which has claimed conducting “precision strikes” in Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim news agency, citing “informed sources”, reports there was no attack on any “military centres belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran”, after explosions were heard in the city. The sources told Tasnim that no IRGC military centres in the west and south of the Iranian capital have been targeted. The sounds of explosions were related to the engagement of Iranian Army air defences with an Israeli military move in three locations around Tehran, the report added. Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) CEO Saeed Chalandari said the airport was in a stable situation and no security incidents had been reported.
