Veteran Indian film actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75. According to Indian media, Nana Patekar’s son, Malhar Patekar, said a medical team was sent to the actor’s residence in Dona Paula, Goa, after he complained of severe chest pain.However, the actor was unconscious when the team arrived. He was immediately shifted to Manipal Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death at 5:20 a.m., saying he had passed away before reaching the hospital.
Doctors said a heart attack was suspected to be the actual cause of his death. However, an autopsy is likely to be conducted today to determine the exact cause. The sudden death of the veteran actor has prompted an outpouring of grief from Indian political and film personalities, as well as his fans around the world. It may be recalled that Nana Patekar’s real name was Vishwanath Patekar.
He was regarded as one of the most distinctive actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema, known for his unique dialogue delivery and powerful performances. During his long film career, he gave memorable performances in numerous films, including Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome.In recognition of his outstanding artistic services, he received three National Film Awards, while the Indian government conferred the Padma Shri on him in 2013.
