Teen Domestic Worker Dies After Alleged Assaults and Abortion In LahoreBreaking

June 03, 2026

A 17-year-old domestic worker in Lahore died after allegedly suffering repeated sexual abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Her story has now become another painful example of domestic worker abuse in Pakistan.

Neither did the earth split open, nor did the sky fall.

According to police reports, the young girl accused “Awn Bhai” (the employer’s son) and a driver of repeated sexual assaults that allegedly began last year, including during Ramadan.

In her statement, she said:

"Awn Bhai and the driver repeatedly made me the target of their assault. The greatest injustice happened to me during the blessed month of Ramadan. I told Baji everything, but she said, ‘Even if my son has done something to you, the child can’t be his.’”

The alleged abuse reportedly led to pregnancy. It is claimed that an abortion was arranged at a private clinic near Raiwind, after which her condition worsened. She was taken to Services Hospital in Lahore, where she died two days later.

Police have registered gang rape and murder charges, while investigations are ongoing and a post-mortem report is awaited.

This case is not just about one victim.

It reflects a much deeper crisis: the lack of protection for domestic workers in Pakistan, especially young girls who work in private homes without safety, legal protection, or accountability.

A 17-year-old girl should have been building her future—not losing her life in silence.

She had dreams. She had a voice. But she was not protected.

We are failing our daughters.

And until domestic worker rights in Pakistan are taken seriously, these stories will continue to repeat themselves behind closed doors.
