Could President Asif Ali Zardari’s latest visit to China finally bring solutions to Karachi’s long-standing water and technology problems? Many people in Sindh believe this visit could open a new chapter.

 The visit included a tour of some of the biggest industrial companies, signing deals in agriculture and infrastructure, and honoring a Chinese doctor for saving lives through medical work. It also brought up the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and their long history together.
Zardari's trip to China was part of an official five-day trip that started on April 25, 2026. During the trip, he met with provincial leaders to talk about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and their relationship with China.

Zardari also went to Shaoshan in China's Hunan Province, where Chairman Mao Zedong was born and lived before he died. There, he signed agreements and memorandums of understanding between the government of Sindh and Chinese companies. According to Peng Yixuan, a Chinese reporter, his father-in-law, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was the last foreign guest received by Chairman Mao Zedong in 1976.His late wife, Benazir Bhutto, who was Pakistan’s first female Prime Minister, also studied and lived in China. Now, his daughter, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, is currently spearheading medical cooperation between China and Pakistan.

People have high hopes that Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to China will bring positive changes and progress to Pakistan, especially in Sindh. Many believe that by visiting China and discussing various important issues, practical solutions will now begin to emerge.

Yesterday, President Zardari signed three MOUs related to technology. Discussions were also held about the possible improvements in Karachi, particularly regarding one of the city’s biggest problems — converting seawater into usable fresh water.

All of these efforts are being made by Pakistan Peoples Party to improve Sindh and create a better future for the province.
The trip to China was a big step forward in the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. It is expected to have long-term positive effects in the years to come.
