February 05, 2026

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Muzaffarabad has once again highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the Kashmir issue. During his visit, the Prime Minister attended a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, where he strongly reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to standing “shoulder to shoulder” with the Kashmiri people in their peaceful and legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.

His visit, held in the spirit of Kashmir Solidarity, carried both political significance and a message of national unity. Addressing lawmakers and representatives, PM Shehbaz stressed that Pakistan will continue to raise the Kashmir cause at international forums and support the Kashmiri people through moral, diplomatic, and political means. He reiterated that the Kashmir dispute remains unfinished business on the global agenda and must be resolved in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

In a major announcement aimed at providing relief to affected families, the Prime Minister declared an increase in the monthly subsistence allowance for Kashmiri migrants of 1989–90 residing in Azad Kashmir. The allowance has been raised to Rs. 5,000 per person, reflecting the government’s intention to strengthen welfare measures for displaced communities who have endured decades of hardship.

Furthermore, PM Shehbaz shared that a Rs. 3 billion pilot project has already been initiated for the construction of 750 housing units. This initiative is expected to provide improved living conditions and stability to Kashmiri migrant families, many of whom have been waiting for long-term rehabilitation and proper housing facilities.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam, also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support during a Kashmir Solidarity Day gathering in Islamabad. He emphasized that Pakistan will continue its efforts to advocate for Kashmiris on every possible platform and will not abandon their struggle until justice is achieved.

These developments reflect not only symbolic solidarity but also practical steps toward supporting Kashmiri communities. Through welfare projects and diplomatic engagement, Pakistan continues to strengthen its narrative of standing firmly with Kashmiris in their ongoing quest for freedom and dignity.
