From lighted streets to rallies, concerts and fireworks, Pakistan is all set to paint its cities green and white as the country gears up to celebrate Independence Day on August 14.
The build-up is in full swing across the country, with public buildings and major landmarks being decked out in the national colors just days to go. The celebrations are expected to unite families, communities and young people as Pakistan celebrates another year of independence.
ISLAMABAD: Preparations are visible everyplace in the capital, streets and public places have started looking festive ahead of August 14. Similar scenes had been reported in cities all over the country.
Lahore gearing up for special celebrations too. Adding to the celebrations happening all over the city, special shows are set at Town Hall on Mall Road for August 13 and 14, starting at 8pm.
And the celebrations are not over in a day. Social media posts pointed out that information that events such as sports activities, concerts, rallies and fireworks are expected to continue thru August 23.
Patriotic messages are being spread across the internet with hashtags like #OneNationOneDestiny being used to encourage unity and a common national future. The posts often express pride in Pakistan's landmarks and armed forces, alongside wishes for economic stability, more opportunities for young people and national progress.
For millions of Pakistanis Independence Day is more than flags, lights and celebrations. It’s also a time to look back on the country’s past — and to what future citizens want to build together.
And as Pakistan prepares to celebrate, one message echoes - millions of hearts, one common dream.
