Mahira Khan Steps Forward in Support of Saba QamarBreaking

November 19, 2025

The Pakistani entertainment industry has recently been swept up in a wave of online debate following actress Saba Qamar’s comments about Karachi. During a recent podcast, Saba was asked whether she had ever considered shifting to Karachi. She responded candidly: “Astaghfirullah.” She explained that while she frequently visits Karachi for work, she has never thought about living there permanently.

Her straightforward response triggered a social-media uproar. Many people criticized her, arguing that the city that gave her work and fame deserved more respect.

Amid this online storm, fellow actress Mahira Khan stepped forward to defend Saba, urging fans and critics alike to approach the situation with empathy and context.

During the promotions of her new film, Mahira was asked about her own feelings toward Karachi. She replied that people naturally feel attached to the city where they were born and raised, where their parents’ home is—every city has its own charm. “Just as Lahore is the city of Iqbal, of poetry and romance,” she said, “Karachi is like a mother—always opening its arms and welcoming everyone.”

Mahira emphasized that Saba’s remarks were misunderstood and blown far out of proportion. According to her, Saba Qamar never intended to disrespect Karachi or its people; the backlash, she said, came from selective interpretation rather than genuine offense.

In another program, Mahira added that if she ever gets the chance to work with Saba Qamar, she will gladly avail it. She believes that when two “superwomen” come together, the world has no idea what they’re capable of creating. “I’m sure,” Mahira said, “that the two of us would make something truly superhit.”

Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar are two of Pakistan’s most talented actresses—artists who have contributed immensely to the country’s entertainment landscape. Both deserve respect, and everyone should have the right to express their personal opinions freely. This entire episode offers a valuable lesson: “sometimes, all it takes to defuse a controversy is one person choosing grace over criticism.”
