Bill Gates has publicly expressed deep regret over his past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, saying he wishes he had never spent time with the disgraced financier. In a recent interview with 9News Australia, the Microsoft co-founder admitted that meeting Epstein was a serious mistake and said he feels remorseful about the relationship.
“Every minute I spent with him, I regret it,” Gates stated, adding that he also apologises for his involvement.
The comments come shortly after a new wave of files connected to the US Justice Department’s investigation into Epstein became public. The newly released materials reportedly include emails involving Epstein and several well-known individuals, highlighting connections that range from friendly exchanges to questionable personal and financial dealings.
Among the documents was a draft email allegedly written by Epstein that contained claims about Gates’ private life. In the unsent message, Epstein suggested Gates had been involved in affairs and even implied he had assisted him with illegal substances, allegedly connected to encounters with women.
Gates strongly denied the claims, insisting the email was never actually sent and calling its contents untrue.“That email was never sent. The email is false,” he said, adding that he does not understand why Epstein would write such accusations. Gates questioned whether Epstein may have been attempting to damage his reputation.
A spokesperson for Gates also dismissed the allegations, stating that the documents show Epstein’s irritation about no longer being connected to Gates and claiming Epstein may have been trying to trap or smear him.
Epstein, who was convicted of sex-related crimes, died in prison in 2019 in what authorities ruled a suicide.
Meanwhile, Melinda French Gates has also weighed in on the controversy, suggesting the public still deserves clarity about Gates’ connection to Epstein. She has previously indicated that Gates’ past relationship with Epstein raised serious concerns during their marriage.
As more documents continue to surface, the controversy surrounding Epstein’s network and the powerful figures associated with him remains a topic of intense public scrutiny.
