Pakistan’s transport services exports grew by 9.91% year-on-year to $467.840 million during the first seven months (July-January) of 2022-23 from $433.860 million over the same period of the last fiscal, reports WealthPK, quoting Pakistan Bureau of Statistics latest data.
On a year-on-year basis, transport services exports decreased 0.12% to $57.950 million in January 2023 from $58.020 million in January 2022.
Similarly, transport services exports decreased by 3.46% to $57.950 month-over-month in January 2023 compared with $60.030 million in December 2022, according to the latest statistics.

During the period under review, exports of sea transport services witnessed an increase of 49.11%, going up from $66.020 million last year to $98.440 million during the July-January period of FY23. Among the sea transport services, the exports of freight services increased by 110.62% from $39.450 million last year to $83.090 million this year, whereas the exports of other sea transport services decreased by 42.23% from $26.570 million to $15.350 million.
On a year-on-year basis, sea transport services exports decreased by 22.03% to $8.530 million in January 2023 from $10.940 million during the same month last year. On the other hand, sea transport services exports increased by 1.07% to $8.530 million in January 2023 from $8.440 million in December 2022.
The exports of air transport services rose by 3.44% going up from $354.190 million last year to $366.390 million this year. Among the air transport services, the exports of passenger services increased by 7.55%, from $230.050 million to $247.430 million, whereas the exports of freight services surged by 3.46%, from $17.910 million to $18.530 million. In addition, the export of other air transport services decreased by 5.46% from $106.230 million to $100.430 million.
On a year-on-year basis, air transport services exports increased by 4.53% to $48.190 million in January 2023 from $46.100 million during the same month last year. Air transport services exports decreased by 3.17% to $48.190 million month-on-month in January 2023 compared with $49.770 million in December 2022.
Meanwhile, the exports of road transport services during the July-January FY23 witnessed a decrease of 17.23% from $9.460 million to $7.830 million. Among the road transport services, the exports of freight services increased by 33.17% from $1.990 million to $2.650 million. On a year-on-year basis, road transport services exports increased by 106.12% to $1.010 million in January 2022 from $0.490 million during the same month last year.
Month-on-month, road transport services exports decreased by 22.31% to $1.010 million in January 2023 from $1.300 million during December 2022. The exports of postal and courier services decreased by 0.24%, from $4.190 million to $4.180 million, the PBS data shows. On a year-on-year basis, postal and courier services exports decreased by 55.10% to $0.220 million in January 2023 from $0.490 million during the same month last year.
