Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has conferred awards on the top contributing taxpayers during the financial year 2021-22. Awards have been arranged to stress the importance of revenue collection in the development process. KPRA presented awards to 51 taxpayers who were selected from 10 different sectors of the economy. KPRA also awarded 5 withholding agents for their contributions towards the revenue collection of KPRA.
KPRA also gave appreciation certificates to its officials for their performance in the operations of KPRA. Awards were presented by the Provincial Minister for Finance Taimur Khan Jhagra, who visited the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by KPRA’s policy board members (public/private), provincial ministers, and secretaries. Director General of KPRA Muhammad Kabir Afridi said that KPRA is playing a very active role in helping the provincial government run its finances.
He said that we will continue to support the development efforts of the KPK government, adding that the number of registered taxpayers has increased beyond 19,000. He thanked the team of KPRA and the business community for working together to raise the required revenues for the provincial government. The Provincial Minister for Finance Taimur Khan Jhagra appreciated the efforts of the KPRA team in his speech and the role of the taxpayers, saying that, KPRA’s annual growth rate is rapidly increasing as compared to other provinces.
“This year we are hopeful to take our revenue collection to PKR40 billion,” he said, adding that taxpayer’s satisfaction has reached 99% in the taxpayers’ perception survey, which is excellent and shows their trust in KPRA. “The aim of this event is to recognize the contribution of those who are in the tax net. They deserve to be recognized and we will arrange a bigger event in the coming year,” the minister added.
