Syrian ambassador to Pakistan Dr Ramez Alraee said that his country is keen to boost trade and economic relations with Pakistan, which are crucial to lowering unemployment and raising people's living standards. During his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said that Syria and Pakistan have solid political ties that should develop into expanding business ties in order to generate economic gains for both parties. The two countries can collaborate in a wide range of areas, including IT, infrastructure development and energy, he added.
Dr Alraee emphasised that a group from the ICCI should visit Syria to assess business and investment prospects. He assured that his embassy would offer them all the support and assistance available. He expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for standing up for Syria in international forums and reaffirmed his commitment to working to further develop the trade and economic ties between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Acting President of the ICCI Faad Waheed said that through fostering trade and economic connections, Pakistan and Syria may help each other's economies in numerous ways. He said that although bilateral trade between Pakistan and Syria is extremely small, it may be increased by fostering economic ties between the private sectors of both countries.
Faad Waheed informed the Syrian ambassador about Pakistan's core sectors and top exportable goods, which can be highly advantageous to Syrian customers. He emphasised the value of regular trade delegation exchanges to unleash untapped potential for collaboration between the two countries and reaffirmed the dedication of the ICCI to collaborating with the Syrian Embassy to strengthen business and investment ties between Pakistan and Syria. ICCI Vice President Engineer Muhammad Azhar ul Islam Zafar said that he will head a group to Syria to explore commercial partnerships with Syrian counterparts since Pakistan views Syria as a significant trading partner.
