The exports of sports goods witnessed an increase of 18.28% during the first eight months (July-February) of the current financial year (2022-23) compared to the exports of corresponding months of last year. According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data available with WealthPK, the country exported sports goods worth $270.158 million during the period under review as opposed to $228.4 million during the corresponding period of fiscal year 2021-22.
Among the sports products, the exports of footballs rose by 35.70%, from $114.521 million during July-February FY22 to $155.4 million during July-February FY23. Gloves exports, however, dropped by 6.28% from $50.615 million during the eight months of FY22 to $47.435 million during the corresponding period of FY23.
Likewise, the exports of all other sports goods increased by 6.42% to $67.322 million from $63.263 million. On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the sports goods exports witnessed a decrease of 20.19% during February 2023 as opposed to the exports during the same month of last year. Sports goods exports during February 2023 were recorded at $28.352 million against $35.526 million during February 2022.
The exports of sports goods decreased by 15.10% during February 2023, in contrast to the exports of $33.393 million during January 2023, the PBS data shows. During the period under review, the exports of footballs and gloves decreased by 23.30% and 33.86%, respectively, whereas the exports of all other sports products also witnessed a decline of 2.08%. On a MoM basis, the exports of footballs and gloves decreased by 11.080% and 31.12%, respectively, while the exports of other sports goods declined by 13.10%.
