June 16, 2022

BEIJING, Jun. 16 (INP): “We hope Chinese and Pakistani media will continue to be a bridge connecting the two countries, do a good job in telling the story of China-Pakistan cooperation, jointly reject disinformation, and contribute more to CPEC development, socioeconomic progress in both countries and closer people-to-people exchange," noted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin at a regular press conference.

Responding to a question regarding the 7th China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Media Forum held recently, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said that during the forum, representatives from both sides shared their views on GDIs inspiration and the promotion of media, Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC development and a fair and objective reporting of CPEC.

According to Gwadar Pro, the 7th CPEC Media Forum he mentioned was held both offline and online on June 2, along with the Book Presentation Ceremony of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor: Stories Behind and the awarding ceremony of the annual "CPEC Communication Award", with high-spirit and enthusiasm.

Themed "Enhance New Media Cooperation to Depict the Multidimensional and Comprehensive CPEC", the forum was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, and jointly organized by the Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) and China Economic Net (CEN).

It was attended by high level officials, diplomatic envoys, media and think tank representatives from both countries including Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman Pakistan-China Institute, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistani Foreign Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker National Assembly, Pang Chunxue, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, Moin ul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China.

On the occasion, participants recognized the achievements of CPEC and expressed their concern and vigilance over the so-called geopolitical issues, debt trap, resource plunder, corruption and other discrediting remarks made by  some media outlets in recent years.
The participants reached consensus on the need to guard against false propaganda and disinformation on CPEC and agreed on strengthening media cooperation between China and Pakistan so as to show the world the truth of win-win cooperation and high-quality development in CPEC.
After 7 years of development, CPEC Media Forum has now grown into an indispensable exchange platform for the Chinese and Pakistani media with the biggest influence and most remarkable achievements.
