At least three strategic projects are currently being carried out by the two state-owned firms Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to supply gas to two special economic zones and an industrial park in their respective regions for increasing industrial production. According to a document available with WealthPK, the government has allotted money totalling Rs431.45 million for this purpose in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP 2022-23) to progress three ongoing initiatives, one each in Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab provinces.
With a budget of Rs100 million for the current fiscal year, the SSGC is constructing a pipeline to supply 10 metric million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) to the Bostan Special Economic Zone in the Balochistan province, as well as a dedicated line to supply 13 MMCFD of RLNG to the Bin Qasim Industrial Park in Karachi, Sindh province, with funds totalling Rs74.71 million.
