The federal government has proposed an allocation of Rs30,000 million for the construction of the 305km Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Fiscal Year 2026-27, according to a document available with Wealth Pakistan.

The proposed allocation includes Rs28,000 million under rupee cover and Rs2,000 million from local resources, taking the total proposed funding for the next fiscal year to Rs30,000 million (Rs30 billion).

Titled “Construction of Hyderabad-Sukkur (305km), 6-Lane Divided, Fenced Motorway on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Basis – 2nd Revised”, the project received approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on July 7, 2025.

The project's approved cost stands at Rs363.7 billion, while the estimated expenditure up to June 30, 2026, is projected at Rs15.004 billion. The remaining throw-forward liability has been estimated at approximately Rs348.696 billion, highlighting the significant financial requirements still needed to complete the motorway.

The Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway is considered the last missing link in Pakistan's north-south motorway network. Once completed, it will connect Hyderabad with Sukkur through a modern six-lane, access-controlled motorway, strengthening trade corridors, facilitating movement between ports and industrial centers, supporting economic activity across Sindh and other parts of the country, reducing travel time, and enhancing road safety.

The proposed allocation is subject to final approval as part of the federal development budget for 2026-27, which is expected to be presented before the parliament this week.
