A German company which has expressed interest in setting up environmentally friendly waste-to-energy projects in the Punjab province will have its issues settled at the earliest.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi met with a delegation of the company and ordered the quick resolution of the issues pertaining to the installation of waste-to-energy power plant projects.
Along with other members, the delegation included Carsten, the German company office bearer. Members of the Punjab Assembly Sajid Khan Bhatti, Tanvir Shah, Muhammad Jabbar, Mushtaq Gondal, Muhammad Asif, and Muhammad Hasan, as well as the Secretaries of Local Government, Energy, Additional Secretaries, and the CM Office, were also present.
The chief minister stated that Punjab would receive inexpensive electricity from the new power plant, and that a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed with the German company to implement the project. He also directed the concerned officials to give final shape to the important aspects of the project as soon as possible.
The German company has installed green field power plants in six different countries of the world.
Moreover, he pledged that this project would be handled in a transparent manner at all levels, and in light of climate change, he emphasized that installing environmentally friendly power plants was urgently needed in order to combat smog and environmental pollution. The chief minister said that 5,000 people would be employed by the project.
