Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to chalk out an urgent action plan to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to consumers during the upcoming winter season.
The prime minister issued these instructions while chairing a meeting to address the challenge regarding the provision of gas to domestic and commercial consumers, says a statement received by WealthPK.
Shehbaz Sharif warned that any negligence and maladministration in the provision of gas supplies would not be tolerated. He emphasized ensuring gas supply to domestic consumers, particularly during cooking hours.
The prime minister pointed out that Pakistan should have taken benefit of purchasing gas from the international market at cheaper rates during the COVID-19 pandemic. He regretted that the entire population, especially the common man, was facing difficulties due to a shortage of gas supply.
Shehbaz Sharif said his government believes in practical steps rather than making tall political claims.
The meeting was chaired by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Adviser Ahad Cheema and other senior officials.
