Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered steps to reduce electricity loadshedding during winter in order to provide maximum relief to consumers, according to a PM Office statement received by WealthPK.
He also directed to cut reliance on imported fuel for power generation and utilise local resources instead to produce cheaper electricity. He was chairing a meeting to discuss various proposals to overcome power loadshedding in winter. The prime minister ordered every possible measure to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers. The ministry of energy briefed the prime minister on the demand and supply situation and estimates of fuel required for power generation.
Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Energy Minister Engineer Khurram Dastagir, PM’s Adviser Ahad Cheema, State Minister for Petroleum Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Special Assistants Dr Jahanzeb Khan, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and senior officials were in attendance.
