Women Empowerment Centers of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall (PBM) have successfully trained 277,328 women across various trades to make them independent and self-reliant.
A total of 163 empowerment centers across the country have been conducting such trainings to that end, according to an official of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall.
The official said that trainings include imparting skills to women in the trades of cutting, drafting, tailoring, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, hand knitting, fabric painting, block printing, zari work, beautician, computing, khadi work and dress-making.
He added that, “Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall is a premier organization of Pakistan Government, helping marginalised communities in various areas. They are provided relief in case of domestic emergencies and are helped to create a livelihood for themselves through trainings and workshops.”
According to the official, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall has successfully conducted 314 surgeries of Cochlear Implant with a total budget allocation of PKR332.29 million. PBM has also disbursed PKR430 million on differently-abled persons.
He added that PBM has also spent a sum of PKR593 million on education through giving scholarships and other facilities to students from disadvantaged groups.
He said, “PBM provides education stipends to poor students from grade ten to PhD, and in professional education like MBBS, Engineering, etc.”
The official continued that, “PBM’s Shelter Homes have been providing free night stays and breakfasts to 616,500 people and free dinners to 5,515,357 people across Pakistan while through the ‘Roti Sab Key Liye’ initiative, 3,387,595 meals have been served.”
