Pakistan’s transport services export grows by over 75pc in first quarter of current fiscal

Pakistan collected $263.840 million by providing various transportation services to different countries during the first quarter of the current fiscal as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, WealthPK reports.

 

 

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the export of transport services from the country grew by 75.95% on a year-on-year basis and reached $263.840 million during the first quarter of the current financial year from $149.950 million during the same period of the previous fiscal.

On a year-on-year basis, the export of transport services from the country increased by 38.69% and reached $85.960 million in September 2022 from $61.980 million during the same month last year. Similarly, transport services exports decreased by 1.15% and dipped to $85.960 on a month-on-month basis in September 2022 as compared to $86.960 million in August 2022.

The export of sea transport services witnessed an increase of 369.50%, going up from $93.430 million in the first quarter of the previous fiscal to $19.900 million in the ongoing financial year.Among the sea transport services, the export of freight services increased by 412.49% and reached from $12.570 million in the last year to $64.420 million whereas the export of other sea transport services showed an increase of 295.77% by reaching $29.010 million in the current fiscal from $7.330 million in the first quarter of the previous financial year. On a year-on-year basis, the export of sea transport services from the country increased by 212.78% and reached $30.590 million in September 2022 from $9.780 million during the same month of last year.

On the other hand, the export of sea transport services decreased by 0.84% and dipped to $30.590 million on a month-on-month basis in September 2022 as compared to $30.850 million in August 2022. The export of air transport services rose by 29.85%, going from $126.720 million in the last year to $164.550 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal. Among the air transport services, the export of passenger services increased by 37.00% and reached from $83.100 million to $113.850 million whereas the export of freight services surged by 71.43%, going from $6.510 million to $11.160 million.

In addition, the export of other air transport services increased by 6.55% from $37.110 million to $39.540 million in the first quarter of the current financial year. On a year-on-year basis, the export of air transport services increased by 5.53% and reached $53.640 million in September 2022 from $50.830 million during the same month of the previous year. On a month-on-month basis, the export of air transport services decreased by 0.41% and dipped to $53.640 million in September 2022 as compared to $53.860 million in August 2022.

Meanwhile, the export of road transport services witnessed an increase of 139.87%, going up from $1.530 million to $3.670 million during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal. Among the road transport services, the export of freight services increased by 141.67%, going from $0.480 million to $01.160 million during the first three months of the current fiscal. The export of postal and courier services increased by 21.67% and reached $2.190 million from $1.800 million, the data revealed. On a year-on-year basis, the export of road transport services increased by 17.35% and reached $1.150 million in September 2022 from $0.980 million during the same month of last year.

However, the export of road transport services from the country decreased by 4.17% and dipped to $1.150 million in September 2022 from $1.200 million in August 2022. On a year-on-year basis, the export of postal and courier services from the country increased by 48.72% and reached $0.580 million in September 2022 from $0.390 million during the same month of last year, according to the data available with WealthPK.
