The acceptability for Pakistani auto products in the international market is on the rise as a local group of companies has exported nearly 12,000 motorcycles in the last six months, WealthPK reports.
According to a statement, Atlas Group has achieved impressive export sales during the last six months as it exported nearly 12,000 motorcycles. The group also exported auto parts worth around $2 million.
“The breakthrough reflects the acceptability for Pakistan-made auto products in the international market,” said the statement.
Quoting Afaq, a representative of Atlas Honda, the statement said that the company was looking for more export markets for motorcycles and auto parts in the future. “New parts and models are under study for their suitability for export. Evaluation criteria place special emphasis on them having a potential for becoming part of the global supply chain,” he said.
Afaq hoped that the motorcycle industry of Pakistan could experience major growth. “This has become possible due to the high level of localisation and technology transfer from Japanese companies like Honda, Hitachi, Denso and GS Yuasa. The commitment to quality, product reliability and focus on enhancing exports remains a strategic vision and mission for Atlas Honda,” he added.
He also showed optimism that the current economic and foreign exchange restrictions would be removed soon. He said that exports through regimes like ‘Duty and Tax Remission for Exports’ could give greater confidence to policymakers of the global supply chain in Pakistan as a potential hub. “Competing with ASEAN and India for shares of the global parts market is a challenge the country should now prepare for,” he added.
Afaq reiterated the resolve to increase efforts on the export front. “With the government’s support and market access efforts, the auto industry and parts manufacturers have a good chance to explore more international markets,” the statement available with WealthPK quoted him as saying.
