Federal Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Works Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has stated that Pakistan is looking for Chinese investment in the construction sector to build affordable housing units and improve slums for low-income individuals around the country. China State Building Engineering Corporation Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Chang Chun met the secretary and reviewed the specifics. He asked for the renewal of the September 2021-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the inclusion of the housing and construction sector in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a ministry official told WealthPK.

According to Secretary Shallwani, Chinese investment in Pakistan will spur economic growth and create a large number of job possibilities. He pledged his unwavering support for the expansion of Pak-China housing and urban-rural development cooperation. The two parties also decided to get started on a new MoU for Pakistan's safe, decent, and affordable vertical housing projects to revitalise metropolitan areas and upgrade slums. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Housing and Works, the Ministry of Communication, and the Economic Affairs Division.
