The decision was made after a four-member delegation of quarantine experts from Kenya visited Pakistan in January, and showed their keen interest in importing Pakistan's mango and kinnow. During their visit, they showed satisfaction with the Pakistan’s kinnow and mango quarantine facilities. The Kenyan delegation was led by Prof Theophilus Mutui, Managing Director of Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service. The delegation also comprised Dr Isaac Macharia, General Manager Phyto-sanitary Services, George Momanyi, Chief Inspector and PRA expert Asenath Koech. The Kenyan experts visited kinnow orchards and inspected 33 plants and packhouses in Karachi, Multan and Bhalwal. Waheed Ahmed, the patron-in-chief of the PFVA, said that the association is expecting bumper mango produce in the coming season, which will enable it to also export the fruit to Kenya.
