September 29, 2022

Pakistan Railways will soon launch a project under public-private partnership to provide healthcare facilities to its current and former employees as well as passengers, WealthPK reports.

The project will benefit 70,000 current and 150,000 retired employees, their families, and passengers with the help of 7,000 doctors.

An official of Pakistan Railways told media that the main objective of the project is to provide quality and accessible healthcare services to current and former employees of the department besides millions of passengers.

Pakistan Railways has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ‘Sehat Kahani’ for the provision of quality healthcare facilities to railways employees.

According to the official, the use of technology and innovation are extremely needed to fill the gap of access to healthcare for railways employees and millions of passengers.

Under the partnership, Sehat Kahani will initiate specialised packages for passengers through ‘On the Go’ clinics at all major railway stations of the country where Pakistan Railways will provide on ground infrastructure level support, facilitate staff training and create visibility for Sehat Kahani’s spectrum of digital health services among its employees and other beneficiaries.

The public-private partnership will be the first of its kind between the Ministry of Railways and Sehat Kahani, which will have long-term impacts on the health and wellbeing of millions of travellers and railways workers.

“This initiative will not only help us to provide quality healthcare to our employees and passengers but also help us understand their health issues and do long term strategic planning for their health and wellbeing,” said the official.
