Pakistan earns $158m through export of travel services

Pakistan made $158.140 million in the first four months of the current fiscal year by offering various travel services in other countries. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), this is a decrease of 13.59% from the $183.006 million in services delivered during the same time of the previous fiscal year 2021-22.

Personal travel services had a 13.77% decline from $182.356 million in July-October 2021 to $157.250 million in the months under review. Among the personal services, the exports of health-related spending fell by 59.09%, and education-related expenditure also dipped by 4.59%, the PBS data shows. In addition, there was a 13.62% decline in other personal services.

Meanwhile, business service exports increased from $0.650 million to $0.890 million, a 36.92% increase. The exports of services during July through October 2022-23 were $2259.21 million, compared to $2172.85 million from July through October 2021-22, a rise of 3.97%. The country’s imports fell by 11.83%, from $3483.37 million the previous year to $3071.13 million in the months under consideration.
