Pakistan has the potential to generate a revenue of USD 100 billion from crypto assets in the next twenty years. According to ‘Chainalysis 2021 Global Crypto Adoption Index,’ Pakistan ranks third among the countries with the highest rates of crypto adoption, use of blockchain and Web 3.0 technologies.
Moreover, interest in the use of cryptocurrencies has also increased at the social, policy and investors level. These findings were shared by experts in the fields of Web 3.0 and Blockchain at a summit titled ‘W3B Summit’ arranged at the National Incubation Center (NIC) here in Islamabad.
The summit was organized by Teamup in collaboration with S&P Global, Fasset and the National Incubation Center (NIC). It was attended by technology experts, industrialists, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and students. Speaking at the event, former CEO of Jazz, Zouhair Khaliq, said that NIC is playing a very important role in revitalizing the tech sector of our country.
He said we need to rapidly evolve an indigenous tech-entrepreneurship ecosystem so that our younger generation can have the resources to compete with the tech giants of the world. Managing Director S&P Global, Mujeeb Zahur said that we must move forward with belief and determination that future belongs to those who make headways into technology and science.
He said, “if we embrace technology and develop ways to take it forward on our own, we will be able to reap economic dividends no matter what our geo-strategic location.” He added, “technology rewards merit only. There is no lack of merit in our country. All we need to do is to provide a healthy working environment for our youngsters to learn and develop their ideas.”
Founder, Rozee.pk & Dukan.pk, Monis Rahman said that he had complete faith in the tech-savvy younger generation of Pakistan. “They have the ability to take the mantle forward only if we as policy-makers, leaders, and entrepreneurs do our duty to help them develop their skills.”
Country Head for Fasset in Pakistan, Noshad Minhas, for his part said that he was optimistic about the future of tech and Web 3.0 in the country and said that the country was full of brilliant developers, researchers, and scientists in tokenization, digital assets, and blockchain technology.
He added, “in tandem with the National Incubation Center, Fasset hopes to build awareness and educate the next generation of Web 3.0 adopters on safe, responsible, and innovative development. He continued, “we believe that with the right building blocks, the talented youth of Pakistan can unlock USD 100 billion of potential economic growth in the next twenty years.”
