Lahore chamber to help bridge public-private partnership gaps

October 27, 2022

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is committed to acting as a bridge between the business community and the government because it believes strong public-private partnerships bring economic stability. This was stated by LCCI President Kashif Anwar while addressing the delegations of Anarkali, Cottage Industry, and Fresh Fruits Merchants Trade Association at the LCCI, according to a press release received by WealthPK.

He said the LCCI will do all necessary to quickly settle the problems facing the business community. All government sectors should work as facilitators and give traders the attention they need for greater growth because their role is crucial in fostering economic activity, he added.

Kashif said the country’s business community is a driving force behind the economy; therefore, it should be supported and treated as partners. All possible measures will be taken to ensure a conducive atmosphere for business activities.

The LCCI president said that although the country is rich in resources, it is experiencing different economic challenges because of the lack of a system for putting government policies into action. Pakistan, he added, is one of the world’s top producers of cotton and wheat, in addition to having the biggest deposits of coal, gold and copper.

He said that the country is also enriched with vast reserves of precious stones, gypsum, salt and marble, but the majority of these natural resources are being exported in raw form rather than being optimally used. A little attention towards value addition can do miracles for the country, he added.

Kashif said that policies cannot give desired results till the business community is taken on board. The LCCI office-holders have rich experience and the skills necessary to get the issues of the business community resolved through policy advocacy.
