Revenues from Pakistan’s IT exports reached a total of USD 199.100 million during July this year which is in line with the increasing trend of IT products exports by Pakistan in the last few years.
According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), IT exports during July of last fiscal year (2021-22) stood at USD 195.996 million in the form of services provided to various clients around the world. This year’s revenues represent a growth of 1.58% over the revenues earned the previous year.
Computer services had the highest share of revenues. Last year, the amount of revenues from computer services stood at USD 150.456 million, while in the month of July this year, they increased to USD 159.140 million.
Among computer services, software consultancy services saw a decrease of 27.40% from last year. The amount of decrease in dollars stood at USD 0.219 million as compared to USD 0.159 million last year. However, exports of hardware consultancy services increased 8.77% year on year from USD 53.830 million to USD 58.551 million.
There was a decrease observed in the export of repair and maintenance services. Last year, these exports were USD 0.162 million, while this year, they came down to USD 0.007 million. On the contrary, the export and import of computer software services saw an increase of 31.41%. In the month of July 2021-22, they were USD 35.039 million, while this year, they increased to USD 46.044 million.
Exports of other computer services decreased by 11.15 % from USD 61.206 million to USD 54.379 million.
The export of information services during the same month of this year went down by 6.45% as compared to last year. In the month of July 2021-22, they stood at USD 0.310 million, while in the month of July this year, they were at USD 0.290 million.
From the set of information services, exports of information-related services went down from USD 0.209 million to USD 0.204 million. This represents a decrease of 2.39 percent over the previous year. Exports of other information services dropped by 14.85%. In the month of July last year, they stood at USD 1.01 million, whereas this July, they stood at USD 0.86 million.
A decrease in the export of telecommunication services of 12.29% was also observed. Last July, they were USD 45.230 million, whereas this July, they stood at USD 39.670 million.
As for the telecommunication services, exports of call centres services surged by 23.90% during the month of July this year, as their exports increased from USD 11.954 million last July to USD 14.811 million this July, whereas the exports of other telecommunication services decreased by 25.29% from USD 33.276 million to USD 24.859 million, the PBS data revealed.
