A representative delegation from the packaging and printing sector called on interim Punjab Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Energy SM Tanveer and discussed the action plan for granting the industry status to this sector. Speaking to the delegation, SM Tanveer remarked that because the packaging industry contributes significantly to the country's economy, it cannot be disregarded.
He expressed the need to proceed jointly in light of mutual discussions and proposals in order to grant the packaging sector the status of an industry. For the stability of the economy, he stated, export must be increased, and the government will take all necessary steps to make this happen.
The packaging and printing sector representatives, who expressed their opinions, said the packaging industry is the third-largest industry globally and the second-largest in South Asia, yet it is still unrecognised. They said there is a lot of room for exports in this area, which also provides jobs. They continued by saying that the printing and packaging business should be recognised as an industry.
