In order to carry out 113 projects aimed at ensuring the availability of reasonably priced residential facilities, the government has thus far released funds totalling Rs 14.25 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme 2022-23, against a total allocation of Rs 18.74 billion. According to official statistics available with WealthPK, of the overall distribution of Rs 14,252.66 million, about Rs 3,191.77 million had been used on housing sector projects during the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year. The budgeted allocation includes Rs. 1,711.875 million for six new programmes and Rs. 12,273.329 million for 107 continuing projects.
According to the PSDP document, Rs 523.168 million has been set aside for road building and rehabilitation in Hyderabad City (20 development schemes). Amounts of Rs. 486.159 million and Rs. 406.211 million, respectively, were set aside for the building of metal-paved roads in various districts of Bahawalpur (24 development plans), and Purana Duki and Rabbat villages, respectively, in the Duki district.
Regarding the new development plans, Rs 1 billion was allocated for road reconstruction and rehabilitation at Karachi's SITE Industrial Area. The cost of building a carpet road from Kot Sher to Jajoki in the district of Gujranwala is Rs 250 million. Similarly, Rs 239.875 million will be set aside for 2018's remaining commitments.
