The federal government has proposed Rs250 million for the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Business Plan in the fiscal year 2026-27, according to a document available with Wealth Pakistan.
The Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) figures show that the GDA Business Plan carries an approved cost of Rs25.005 billion, with cumulative expenditure estimated to reach Rs16.258 billion by June 30, 2026—equivalent to about 65 percent of the total approved outlay.
The proposed Rs250 million allocation has been placed entirely under the local component. It will help maintain the momentum of ongoing development activities and support the authority’s long-term urban planning and infrastructure objectives.
The project has a remaining throw-forward of approximately Rs8.747 billion from July 1, 2026, indicating that the implementation will continue through future development programmes.
The plan aims to strengthen Gwadar’s urban management, infrastructure and institutional capacity, as the city expands around the port and associated economic activities.
Gwadar Development Authority plays a central role in regulating land use, developing urban infrastructure, and facilitating planned growth in the city.
Continued federal funding for the programme demonstrates the government’s commitment to gradually completing major development initiatives in Gwadar while managing available fiscal resources. The proposed allocation is expected to support priority works during the next financial year and ensure continuity until additional financing is secured in subsequent budgets.
