Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said that the government is committed to completing all the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects without delay.
The minister was talking to Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, who called on him in Islamabad. During the meeting, matters related to mutual cooperation on energy and electricity projects, especially those being executed under the CPEC were discussed, according to a press statement received by WealthPK.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the main objective of the CPEC is to promote the industrial sector in Pakistan. He appreciated China's cooperation in making special economic zones a success and said Pakistan will continue its efforts to complete them. He said the work on the electricity transmission lines is going on a fast track in Gwadar on the prime minister’s directive. It will be completed in time, he added.
“The supply of electricity to Gwadar will start from Iran in December this year and from National Grid in March next year,” the minister said, adding that self-reliance in the energy sector will stabilize the economy.
The minister observed that Balochistan's prosperity is connected with the development of Gwadar, and tthe government will complete all the CPEC projects there.
The Chinese ambassador appreciated the government’s efforts, especially of the minister for planning and development of the projects.
