Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori said that it is very important to resolve the problems being faced by the business community of the province so that rapid industrial development can be ensured. He discussed the problems of Sindh when the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar called on him at his official residence. The meeting was also attended by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue Tariq Bajwa and Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan Jamil Ahmed.
The Governor highlighted the problems of Karachi and said special attention should be paid by the Federal Government to change the fate of the city. He said, “if problems facing the city of Karachi are not solved, we will never be able to solve the problems of the wider country. If Karachi is restored, the whole country will be restored.” He emphasized the uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas to the residents and businesses of the city since, he said, it was important for industrial and domestic productivity.
He appreciated the efforts of the federal government to bring relief to common people in times of high inflation, decreased growth and limited financial capacity of the government. He said that to preserve harmony and economic growth in the province, all stakeholders were being consulted and taken on board, adding that the federal government should help the provincial government to develop the province’s infrastructure.
Ishaq Dar for his part assured the Governor that the federal government will do whatever it can to help the province develop economically and socially. He and the governor of the State Bank assured him that the grievances of business community will be addressed on a priority basis.
