Exports to Bangladesh post 35% growth in 2MFY23

Pakistan’s total exports to Bangladesh posted a 35.42% growth and reached $144 million during the July-August period of the ongoing fiscal year 2022-23 compared to $106 million over the same period in fiscal 2021-22.

Islamabad also recorded over 33% surplus in goods and services trade with Dhaka during the two comparable periods.

The trade surplus was recorded at $129 million in 2MFY23 against $96 million over the same period of FY22, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s exports to Bangladesh in August 2022 increased 31% to $72 million from $55 million in August 2021.

On a month-on-month basis, the exports increased 1.5% in August 2022 compared to exports in July 2022.

On the other hand, the imports from Bangladesh were recorded at $14 million against $9.7 million last year, showing an increase of 52.54%.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s overall exports surged 11.34% in the two-month period of this fiscal to $5.092 billion from $4.574 billion over the same period of last fiscal, the SBP data showed.

The imports from Bangladesh rose 19.82% to $7.44 million during August 2022 from $6.20 million during August 2021.

On a month-on-month basis, the imports from Bangladesh increased 0.56% in August compared to July 2022.

The overall imports decreased 2.11% to $11.098 million from $11.338 million during the two periods under review.
