Enhanced cooperation between Pakistan, Uzbekistan to benefit both countries

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance mutual cooperation, especially in the field of education and vocational training, and benefit from the expertise of each other.

In this connection, a meeting was held here between Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain and Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Aybek Arif Usmanov. Senior officials of the ministry also attended the meeting.

Rana Tanveer welcomed the Uzbek delegation and said that the two countries always have friendly and cordial relations. He said that Pakistan would enhance its ties with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries.

Rana Tanveer discussed the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two countries regarding vocational and technical training. He said that the two countries should benefit from the experience of each other, according to a statement.

He welcomed the exchange of students between the two countries to cement mutual cooperation. He said that there was significant potential in cooperation between the two countries.

The Uzbek ambassador invited Rana Tanveer to the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education. He said that Uzbekistan would host the conference in collaboration with UNESCO from November 14 to 16 in Tashkent.

He said that the conference was a UNESCO inter-governmental meeting (Category II) to reaffirm the right of every young child to quality care and education from birth to the age of eight years.

The ambassador said that the member states would be urged to renew their commitment to investing in Sustainable Development Goal (SD) Target 4.2 to ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.

Rana Tanveer said that a Joint Working Group (JWG) should be formed to streamline and execute cooperation between the two countries on a priority basis. He said that JWG could enhance collaboration in the field of education.

He said that cooperation among universities and technical institutions of both countries was the way forward. He said that vocational training could brighten the future of the people of Pakistan. He said that technical education and vocational training could help people to find jobs.

The minister said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan should exchange teachers and students to learn from the expertise of each other. He praised the efforts of the government to modernise Pakistan’s education system.

The minister thanked the ambassador and highlighted the cordial and friendly relations between the two countries.

The Uzbek ambassador also stressed the need to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

“Our relations have always been marked by trust, mutual understanding and close cooperation. Pakistan gives high importance to its relations with Uzbekistan and is desirous of further enhancing these ties in all fields of mutual interest,” the statement, received by WealthPK, quoted the minister as saying.
