The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has given a Letter of Intent (LOI) to InfraCo Asia to conduct a thorough feasibility assessment for the solarization of economic zones in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The LOI represents the agreement between KPEZDMC and InfraCo Asia to cooperate in investigating the potential of solar energy and increasing its use in the province's economic zones. Solar energy has the potential to significantly impact the efforts to promote sustainable economic growth in addition to being a crucial part of the worldwide fight against climate change.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) can lessen its dependency on fossil fuels, cut down on carbon emissions, and open up new economic and job prospects in the area by utilising the province's enormous potential for solar energy. Collaboration and innovation are essential for promoting long-term economic growth. “By working together, we hope to maximise the potential of renewable energy sources while also fostering new business and employment prospects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said Jo Moir, Development Director, British High Commission, Pakistan.
Since its inception, the Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) Programme has offered technical assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which culminated in the signing of the LOI. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom provides funding for the SEED Programme.
SEED Team Leader Dr. Omar Mukhtar Khan said, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's economic zones will become solar-powered, which will lower energy prices and increase energy supply reliability and affordability. “We can give the province a more sustainable and successful future by embracing renewable energy,” he added.
KP Chief Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal stressed the role played by the KP government in supporting renewable energy use and sustainable economic growth. According to him, KP is dedicated to fostering sustainable economic growth, and this partnership with InfraCo Asia is a step in that direction.
The collaboration between KPEZDMC and InfraCo Asia shows the value of using renewable energy to advance sustainable economic growth. Initiatives like the solarization of economic zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are crucial for fostering sustainable economic growth and lowering carbon emissions as the globe switches to renewable energy sources. This creative strategy may act as a road map for other areas hoping to build a greener, prosperous future.
Chief Communication Officer of KPEZDMC Adil Salahuddin said, "We are thrilled to be working in collaboration with InfraCo Asia to solarize economic zones in KP. Together with lowering carbon emissions, this partnership will open up new business options and increase jobs in the area."
