Syngenta Pakistan Limited has launched the updated version of its “Cropwise Grower” app to help farmers track crop pests and diseases in real time by taking a picture. “Cropwise Grower” app will also help farmers in identifying best solutions and a range of products to be used for crop protection and fertilization. The app works with 93% accuracy in a time of mere 5 seconds. This is called the “Snap, Diagnosis and Solution” feature of the app by Syngenta.

It works through the algorithms developed by the artificial intelligence technology company called Pantix. Syngenta is a leading agricultural innovation company in Pakistan. It works in crop protection, biologicals, seeds, crop-enhancement products and other digital services for farmers. Cropwise app can also advise farmers about agronomy, weather forecasts, right time for spraying during the day, crop diseases in the region and their solutions, as well as history of weather patterns for the last six months.

The app will help farmers in increasing their yields through timely advice and access to remedies by employing a preventative approach versus the treatment approach i.e. if a disease is detected in a particular crop in one location, all farmers in that area will alerted to that threat. General Manager of Syngenta Pakistan Zeeshan Hasib Baig, said, “Syngenta’s strong relationship with farmers is the reason for its success.

We are working day and night to bring more solutions to farmers. Our aim is to bridge the difference between growers and technology.” He called the Cropwise app a revolutionary product that will greatly help farmers in getting sound solutions to their agricultural problems. He said that in light of changing climate, increasing populations and rising food insecurity, it is very important to integrate technology with agricultural practices.
