The Economic Affairs Division (EAD) has urged the executive board of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to extend maximum support to Pakistan in the rehabilitation of the flood-affected-areas in the country, WealthPK reports.
Briefing the members of the executive board of ADB on the disastrous floods in Pakistan and the government’s response and relief measures, EAD Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz urged them to assist Pakistan in that hour of need, both in the form of budgetary support and projects, to contribute to the proposed rehabilitation strategy in the flood-hit areas.
He also called for them to enhance their investment portfolio in Pakistan, particularly in the infrastructure, housing and tourism sectors, according to a press release.
The roundtable meeting of EAD officials with the ADB delegation was attended by nine executive directors of the bank, representing more than 40 countries. During the roundtable, Dr Kazim Niaz made a comprehensive presentation on the catastrophic floods in Pakistan, the government’s response and relief measures, and future challenges emanating from the situation, said the press release received by WealthPK.
