Country Partnership Strategy (2021-25) for Pakistan between Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Planning & Development Board (P&D) was reviewed in a meeting attended by leaders of the institutions. The ADB was represented by its Country Director Yong Ye and the Planning & Development Board was represented by its Chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbal, a spokesperson for Planning & Development Board told WealthPK. The meeting discussed the progress in the three pillars of the strategy for Pakistan in the province of Punjab.
The pillars include improvement in economic management, building resilience and boosting competitiveness and private sector development, the spokesperson stated. During the meeting, according to the spokesperson, participants also discussed various initiatives of the government to achieve the goals of sustainable development. Moreover, the officials were briefed about the pace of the projects carried out in Punjab under the aegis of the ADB.
Yong Ye appreciated the efforts of the Punjab government and stressed the importance of the timely completion of infrastructure development projects in the province. He added, “these projects will help eliminate poverty, reduce inequality, accelerate growth and progress, enhance women empowerment, tackle climate change, build resilience, increase environmental sustainability, and also ensure food security.” The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of P&D Board, officials, members and secretaries from different departments, the spokesperson said.
