300-bed mega hospital in Gwadar to be completed by year-end

Under the umbrella of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Pak-China Friendship Hospital being built in Gwadar will be completed by the end of this year, according to a document available with WealthPK.

The hospital is being built on 68 acres of land. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities. The hospital will bring much-needed health security to the people of Gwadar and Balochistan. It will create employment for locals, and international visitors will have the security to get themselves examined at a world-class hospital

There will be 300 beds in the hospital. The proposal for the mega-project was given under the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Business Plan (Federal PSDP). Work on the hospital started in November 2020 and is expected to be completed in December 2022.

There will be a total of six medical blocks, each with 50 beds. The construction of one medical block and 20% of the residential block for doctors and other personnel has already been completed.

Nursing and paramedical institutes, a medical college, a central laboratory, and other allied facilities will be completed in the remaining medical blocks, with a supply of medical equipment and machinery, according to the document.

At the estimated total cost of USD 100 million, the project is executed jointly by the executing company and sponsors including GDA, Chinese Government Grant Supervising Agency, Planning and Development Department, Government of Balochistan, and Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives.
