The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has sought a hike of 20 paisa per unit in power tariff for ex-Wapda distribution companies (Discos) in September under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism.
According to a petition submitted to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), the agency said that the actual cost stood at Rs10.1160 per unit against the reference fuel charge of Rs9.9914 per unit during September.
The regulator will hold a public hearing on October 26, reports WealthPK. A total of 12,887.82GWh of electricity worth Rs127.630 billion was generated during the said period, while 12,520.98GWh of net electricity was supplied to Discos.
Out of the total, as much as 34.20% of electricity was generated from hydel, 11.25% from coal, 8.39% from furnace oil, 9.36% from local gas, 14.14% from RLNG, 17.59% from nuclear and 3.63% from wind. The impact of the proposed increase will be passed on to all categories of consumers except lifeline.
