Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the right to access accurate and timely information is the foundation of a better democratic society. In her special message on the International Day for Universal Access to Information, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said access to information is essential for transparent governance, public trust and better decision-making. Accurate and timely information empowers citizens, increases trust in the government and makes decision-making more transparent.

Access to information further strengthens trust between the public and the government. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Punjab Government fully respects transparency, accountability and citizens’ fundamental right to obtain information.  Ensuring transparency in government affairs and making institutions accountable to the public are top priorities. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said corruption can be effectively eliminated through free and transparent information. Access to information is every citizen’s fundamental right and the foundation of an empowered society.

Easy access to information is essential for transparency, accountability and good governance. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said citizens are being provided with immediate and easy access to government information through modern technology. The Punjab Government is taking practical steps to ensure public convenience, transparency and merit. The objective of Digital Punjab is to deliver information and government services to citizens at their doorstep. Informed citizens can make better decisions and build a stronger society.
