North Korea fired 2 Short-Range ballistic missiles toward Sea of Japan - Reports
North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Tuesday, the South Korean military said. The missile launch occurred a day after South Korea and the United States started a regular military exercise, according to the report. Initially, the news agency reported that North Korea fired one unspecified ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Tokyo was aware of the launches, and was collecting information. There were no reports of damage from the firing, he added. Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said later Tuesday that neither of the missiles appeared to have landed within Japan’s exclusive economic zone, which extends 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) from its coast.
