15 hardcore terrorists arrested in operations across Punjab
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel arrested 15 hardcore terrorists during 143 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in different cities of Punjab. A spokesman of the CTD said on Saturday that these operations were carried out in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Attock, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Mianwali, Chinniot and Attock.
The spokesman further revealed that one terrorist who was arrested from Lahore was affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij in North Waziristan. The CTD personnel also recovered explosive material, one IED bomb, detonators, protective fuse wire 18 feet, pamphlets and currency from the hideouts of the arrested terrorists. The arrested terrorists were later identified as Mudassar Khan, Sajjad Ahmad, Ashiq, Ajmal Khan, Umair Iqbal, Mohammad Ijaz, Sohail Ahmad, Esa Khan and others.
The spokesman further said that all these terrorists wanted to crate law and order situation in the province. The CTD personnel said that around 556 suspicious people were taken into custody during 1,498 combing operations conducted during current week. During these combing operations around 64,511 people were quizzed. They said that CTD is committed to provide safe and secure environment to people of the Punjab province.
