BEIJING, June 08 (INP): The 18th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that begins in Qingdao on Saturday has attracted world-wide media attention, as around 3,000 journalists have arrived in the city for its coverage. According to analysts, the unprecedented media's gathering speaks high of its importance in security and socio-economic perspective. At the heart of the media center, 600 news desks have been set up with computers, Internet access and simultaneous interpretation. The speeches and meetings of the SCO leaders will be broadcast live on a big screen inside the building. As per the media's coverage plan, journalists will be entertained for having exclusive interviews with the leaders of China and other participating countries. Panel discussions among the journalists of SCO member countries are also part of this summit. In the media’s circle, the 18th SCO summit is being viewed as a major diplomatic event hosted in China this year. It will also reflective of new type of international diplomacy being pursued by the Chinese government under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. This is the first SCO Summit to take place after India and Pakistan were included as full members. The organization now covers 80 percent of the Eurasian landmass and half of the world’s population. As per the report, many other countries including Iran have shown their keen attention to the join this growing regional organization.
