CPEC lays strong foundation of Sino-Pak ties: Alan LeeBreaking

BEIJING, Jan. 7 (inp): Pakistan and China have strongest bilateral ties and recent mutual cooperation through CPEC has strengthen the friendship, said Alan Lee, Deputy General Manager, Fujian Silk Road Maritime Management Company.
He said while briefing a media delegation from regional countries including Pakistan that visited the port of Chinese Xiamen.
The Port of Xiamen is an important deep water port located on Xiamen Island. It is ranked the 7th-largest container port in China and ranks 14th in the world.
The delegation was told that in 2018, Xiamen port handled 10 million TEUs of containers. A total of 150 shipping routes serve over 50 countries to almost all the major ports in the world.
Mr lee added, there are 50 named " Silk Road Maritime " routes covering Fuzhou Xiamen two ports and operating on the maritime Silk Road. He added that they carry the trade between China and the countries along the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.
He continueed, as of November 30, 1625 voyages have been opened, and the container throughput has reached 1.406 million TEUs, an increase of 10.4% over the same period last year.
He hoped that 1770 voyages will be opened in the whole year, and the container throughput will exceed 1.5 million TEUs.
