ISLAMABAD, Oct. 20 (INP): Pakistan Super League champions Peshawar Zalmi included two Chinese cricketers to its squad ahead of the 3rd edition of the Pakistan Super League. Javed Afridi Chairman of the Zalmi franchise welcomed Chinese cricketers Jian Li and Yufie Zhang. Chargé d'Affaires to China Embassy Lijian Zhao, Former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Chun Xiang Zhang, China’s cricket team coaches Rashid Khan and Yi Tian were present on the occasion. Javed Afridi said on the occasion that they are glad to assist in coaching and mentoring of cricketers in China. They are also prepared to provide them a platform to get recognition in the game at international level. Lijian Zhao appreciated the initiative of Peshawar Zalmi and said that this will bring Pakistan and China more close to each other. “China and Pakistan has ties in different sectors but now in cricket its new beginning,” He said Pakistani cricketers are famous in the world and now Chinese cricketers would have a chance to play with world class players. This, he added will definitely promote cricket in China. Former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Chun Xiang Zhang said that cricket in China is not very famous but this initiative will promote it in their country. “China and Pakistan has a generation to generation relation that’s why China-Pakistan are called as iron brothers now,” he said. Chinese cricketers Jian Li and Yufie Zhang while taking to media said that its honor for them to play with the world class Pakistani cricketers. We would have a chance to learn cricket and we will also try their best to promote cricket in China. The Peshawar Zalmi coaching team will travel to China for a seminar to kickoff the collaboration and hold coaching programs subsequently to identify and groom young Chinese talent. INP/J/AJ
