China's bullet train system best in the region: Business InsiderBreaking

July 12, 2018

Beijing, July 12 (INP): An international correspondent with "Business Insider" has spoken highly of China's bullet trains when he had the opportunity to compare them with trains he took during a trip through China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia. "China's system stood out for its state-of-the-art trains, stunning train stations, and impressive networks, though its check-in process and on-train food options could be improved," said correspondent Harrison Jacobs. China's newly launched Fuxing bullet train can run at speeds of up to 400 kilometers per hour, faster than the high-speed trains in Japan, South Korea, and Russia. In the "Business Insider" article, Jacobs spoke highly of China's airport-like bullet train stations, which he found were co-located with subways in cities across the country, making for a seamless commute. He said that China's high-speed networks carried nearly three billion passengers in 2016, and says that ridership has grown by around 10 percent each year. And he said that the 25,000 kilometer network of high-speed rail lines across China is "impressive when you consider the first line was built in 2008 for the Beijing Olympics." Inp/khan
