BEIJING, Dec. 4 (INP): China on Tuesday welcomed improvement of Pakistan-USA relations, stating that these would be helpful for promoting peace and stability in the region.
“We have taken note of the situation relating to the recent contacts of the two countries on the issue of Afghanistan”, said spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang at a weekly news briefing.
China, he added, welcomed the good interaction between the two sides. The healthy development of Pakistan-US relations is conducive to the international counter-terrorism overall situation and the early reconciliation and reconstruction of Afghanistan, which is conducive to regional peace and stability.
China is pleased to see the continuous improvement of Pakistan-US relations, support the two countries to carry out equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen communication and cooperation on the Afghan issue, and work together to promote peace and development in Afghanistan and the region, Geng Shuang added.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson told reporters that that BRICS- Russia-India-China (RIC) informal meeting was held on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina. President Xi Jinping attended these meeting during which the BRICS leaders reaffirmed their commitments to implementing the outcomes of the previous summit, enhancing solidarity and cooperation, further deepening and substantiating BRICS cooperation in various fields, and striving to play a bigger role in safeguarding international peace and security, promoting global growth, and improving global governance.
The BRICS countries also expressed their unanimous support for the WTO-centered and rules-based multilateral trading system and called on all WTO members to stand against unilateralist and protectionist measures which run counter to WTO rules.
The BRICS countries are in favor of reforming the WTO, upholding the core values and basic principles of the WTO, and making sure that the WTO reflects the interests of all members, especially developing members.
