BEIJING, Nov. 26 (INP): China appreciates Pakistan military for its support to crack down on the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) and protect the security of CPEC construction, said Chinese Foreign Ministry’s sources quoting Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou. Referring to Kong Xuanyou’s meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa held in Islamabad last Tuesday, the sources said it was productive meeting for further deepening bilateral cooperation between the two sides on security-related issues. Kong who was in Pakistan for the 8th round of China-Pakistan strategic dialogue said during the meeting that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. Against the current backdrop of increasingly complex international and regional situation, it is necessary for both countries to enhance strategic communication and coordination to safeguard common interests. The Pakistani military is a firm supporter of bilateral friendship, and the in-depth and comprehensive cooperative relations between the armies of both countries are a real reflection of China-Pakistan friendship, he added. China thanks the efforts made by the Pakistani military to crack down on the ETIM and protect the security of CPEC construction, and expects Pakistan to make new contributions to strengthening China-Pakistan strategic cooperation. General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that China is the most important friend of Pakistan, and the relationship with China is always the priority of Pakistan's diplomacy. The government and the army of Pakistan devote themselves to constantly enhancing friendly cooperation with China, and will continue adopting all necessary measures to provide security assurance to the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Pakistani military commits to international counter-terrorism efforts, does not allow any terrorist organizations to conduct terrorist attacks in Pakistan's territory, and will continue firmly cracking down on the violent terrorist forces of the ETIM.
